Improving Montana’s schools has been a top priority for the Schweitzer-Bohlinger Administration since Day One. Prior to 2005, Montana’s schools had been underfunded and neglected for too long. Upon taking office, Brian and John renewed the state’s constitutional commitment to education by signing into law a historic increase education funding for K-12, and working to help more Montanans afford the promise of a quality college education.THE SCHWEITZER-BOHLINGER RECORD:
- Increased K-12 education funding by 27% -- more than the previous two administrations combined.
- Gave kids the best beginning by offering full time kindergarten.
- Offered students a better opportunity to go to college by capping tuition at Montana’s universities and colleges, and increasing the number of scholarships provided through the Best and Brightest scholarship program.
- Invested in Indian Education for All, and working to close the American Indian achievement gap.
- Building a ready workforce with millions in new workforce training dollars.
